“Your biography—that is, the experiences that make up your life—becomes your biology.”
― Caroline Myss, Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing

Yoga Therapeutics believes in our capacity to rewrite that biography, in essence to change

one's own biology. It is in the changing of one's own biology that true healing can begin.

Yoga Therapists

Yuliana Kim Grant took her first yoga class in LA. The challenge of it humbled and intrigued her. As her teacher has said many times, she came to yoga because of a want, but has kept returning because of a discovered need. It was her own practice serving this need that she experienced first-hand the therapeutic and healing powers of yoga.

She is RYT 500, E-RYT 200, and IAYT C-YT. She is a graduate of Prema Yoga Institute, the first IAYT approved school for yoga therapy in New York City. She currently works with private clients at Pure Yoga, utilizing all of her training as a yoga therapist whether it is helping clients with chronic back pain, helping clients manage stress, or helping them manage any number of needs that brings a client to therapeutic yoga. She makes sure each session is tailored to meet the physical, emotional, and mental needs of each client. She teaches group classes at numerous Equinox studios around New York City. Her classes range from power yoga, vinyasa yoga, Yin yoga, and restorative yoga. She previously worked at Kula for Karma as a New York City Program Director.

Gabriella Barnstone is a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and has been teaching yoga since 2008. She worked at Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation under the guidance and tutelage of Dr. Loren Fishman from 2015 to 2020 where she specialized in treating patients with back pain using yoga as therapy. Her teaching is largely influenced by her studies with Judith Lasater, Carrie Owerko, and Jonathan Fitzgordon. Gabriella has taught courses with Dr. Fishman on Yoga for Back Pain, Yoga for Osteoporosis, and Yoga for Arthritis at Kripalu, Yogaville, and Omega Institute. She is currently on the faculty of Prema Yoga Institute’s Yoga Therapy Program where she has developed her own course on practical anatomy. She continues to learn in New York with Rodney Yee and Carrie Owerko.

Sonja Rzepski  IAYT  C-YT and NASM C-PT Sonja started her yoga teaching journey with the Samahita Yoga Institute. She is a certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a Yoga Therapist with the  International Association of Yoga Therapists. Sonja currently teaches yoga and fitness in New York City and leads workshops, retreats and advanced teacher trainings abroad.  Sonja is grateful to translate her yoga, and exercise training to empower people in such capacities as meditation, restorative practices, trauma recovery, professional athletic performance, and kid's mindfulness training ages 4 to 16.

Originally she learned Ashtanga yoga under the guidance of Eddie Stern,  and most recently with Saraswati Jois in India. Sonja revels in the immersion of different healing traditions. A grad of Prema Therapeutics Yoga Institute in the study of Medical Yoga and Ayurveda in New York City, she specializes in Cardiac Care. Sonja is co-founder of a non-for-profit organization Enter Grace Yoga with her son. The organization helps to bring yoga into schools and shelters in underserved areas of New York City.
